Hey all, First post here, so please go easy :) I've looked around for a solution to this issue, but haven't found anything that works yet. I have developed a DXL script to import images from files located in a user selected folder, however I am currently using the Picture Object method and it seems that this is limited to BMP, DIB, WMF, and EPSF. I can't seem to import PNG or JPG files for example. I have started playing with importing the images using OLE's and this seems to import the images, but only the BMP and WMF's are displayed in DOORS, the JPG and PNG files will appear as an icon only. Is there any way to import PNG and JPG images from file and have them display as the image in DOORS objects using either the Picture Object method or the OLE method, or perhaps some other method? Thank you for your help! Duane.

Re: Importing any image (picture) file into DOORS using OLE or Picture Objects For OLE it depends mainly on the applications that are installed on the computer that creates the OLE. If JPG and PNG pictures are by default associated to a COM server, then this COM Server will be used. To check which OLE Server is being used for a certain file type you can use the 'assoc' command unter DOS. Try: C:\> assoc .jpg .jpg=jpegfile Most likely you will get the above. This means, that there is no OLE Server assigned to this special file extension, therefore the default OLE Server (Packager) is used and you get the "Icon" that you mentioned. This "Icon" however means, you got en entirely different type of OLE object than you might have wanted. To associate a different OLE Server with .jpg files (e.g. Paint should be fine), do: assoc .jpg=Paint.Picture Note that you need local admin rights to do so. After that restart your DOORS client, go to your favourite module and execute the following DXL: oleInsert(current, "C:/temp/test.jpg") .jpg files should now be inserted as a Paint picture. Hope this helps, regards, Mathias |
Re: Importing any image (picture) file into DOORS using OLE or Picture Objects Wish I'd known that - wonder if this will work with svg format, would like to display graphviz generated diagrams inside DOORS objects. Nice tip! |
Re: Importing any image (picture) file into DOORS using OLE or Picture Objects Associated svg with visio 2010 (Visio.Drawing.11), but get a "Object could not be inserted. Make sure the application is entered in the system registry." error. What I have is a diagram showing a trace through DOORS based on my particular criteria with each object on the route displayed as a node in a diagram in svg format and each edge titled by the name of the link module connecting the two objects. What I want to do is put the svg diagram on each object in a dedicated text attribute. SVG enables you to embed URLs on the nodes such that clicking on them will load the associated DOORS object, so ideally clicking on the nodes in the diagram in the DOORS object would load the related DOORS object. Sorry for digression from initial topic, it is related though ;-). |

I am guessing that there is no way to use the Picture Object method with JPG and PNG files? |
